The cultivation of NSIC Rc 400 and 500-series varieties excites Froyland A. Zamora (2nd from left) and other farmers.

To address poor adaptability of rice to local conditions and its adoption in Sta. Monica, Siargao, Surigao del Norte, PhilRice Agusan is now showcasing various regional and national rice varieties.

The study, “TechnoPUSH: Technology Demonstration of Rice Production Technologies,” seeks to bolster farmer awareness regarding yield-enhancing and cost-reducing practices.

Through this, NSIC Rc varieties such as 436, 480, 506, 508, 510, 512, and 514 are being tested under local conditions to assess their environmental suitability and economic viability.

The station will offer extensive technical support and capacity-building based on the PalayCheck system, supply a wide range of seed varieties, and subsidize 50% of the fertilizer needs.

Froyland A. Zamora, a farmer from Brgy. T. Arlan, Siargao, is an eager first-time user of 400 and 500-series rice varieties.

“I’m excited to witness the performance of these newly introduced rice varieties in terms of growth and yield,” Zamora said.
