Some farmers will no longer be drying their palay (paddy rice) on the roads, which practice according to the 1996 report of the Bureau of Postharvest Research and Extension (BPRE) can result in 0.7% to as much as 8.7% losses -- as the Department of Agriculture has been distributing units of flatbed dryers nationwide.
