The celebration of the National Women’s Month in March provides a reflection on the contributions of women in government service, especially in research and development.

With the theme, “We Make Change Work for Women,” DA- PhilRice conducted webinars on Magna Carta of Women, Anti-Sexual Harassment Law, Anti-Bastos Bill, gender sensitivity/statistics/analysis, and training on rice production technologies and financial management for women farmers.

Videos and stories on the importance and contributions of women in the rice industry as farmers, scientists, and researchers were also posted on the Institute’s Facebook page.

Internationally, the United Nations announced the International Women’s Day on March 8 as “Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world.”

“The theme celebrates the tremendous efforts by women and girls around the world in shaping a more equal future and recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic,” the UN announced.

DA-PhilRice’s Management Committee is composed of 47 members, 22 of whom are women.
