The Philippine Rice Research Institute won 18 individual/group/institutional awards for the months of July and August.

Four accolades were bestowed to the Institute by the Philippine Agricultural Journalists, Inc. Binhi Awards 2022, including the Hall of Fame Awards for Best Agricultural Magazine and Best Agri-info and Media Campaign on July 20 at Quezon City, Metro Manila.

The Golden (Malusog) Rice Project and the DA-PhilRice Facebook page were also recognized with Best Agri-related Advocacy Campaign and Social Media page, respectively.

PhilRice’s commitment and contribution to talent management, development, and innovation were acknowledged when it received the Asia’s Best Employer Brand Award on August 17 from the Employer Branding Institute -India.

Moreover, in recognition of the Institute’s efforts to promote gender-responsive practices toward the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls, the Philippine Commission on Women bestowed the Institute with the GADtimpala Silver for Outstanding Gender-Responsive Agency and Bronze for the Exemplary GAD Focal Point System on August 14 at Taguig City, Metro Manila. The GAD team also won 6-star Outstanding Best Practice (seven being the highest) in the International Best Practice Competition, which was awarded last July 20 via Zoom.

PhilRice R&D personnel also secured ten poster awards, five posters being first place, across various categories at the 27th Federation of Plant Science Associations of the Philippines, Inc. (FPSAP) Scientific Conference held in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan on August 27-September 1. Their exceptional performance spanned eight diverse categories, including Plant Breeding and Genetics, Health and Nutrition, Postharvest, Technology Development and Commercialization, Socioeconomic, Technology Extension, and Crop Physiology (refer to page 8).

These accolades and achievements exemplify PhilRice’s dedication to excellence in R4D, service, and gender equality.
