Members of the country`s major media organizations expressed commitment in continuing the advocacy embedded in the National Year of Rice 2013 launched this year as Be RICEponsible campaign at GSIS Art Museum in Metro Manila, March 28.

The Philippine Agricultural Journalists Inc and the Philippine Science Journalists Association Inc Mega Manila said they will feature the need for rice conservation and consumption of brown rice and other food staple. They will also heighten public awareness on valuing the hard work of rice farmers.

“We believe in the advocacies for RICEponsible Philippines to reduce hunger and for healthier Filipinos,” Inez Magbual, Oriental Leaf Awardee in the Bright Leaf Agriculture Journalism Awards for Best Agriculture TV, said.

In 2013, television, radio, and print media including the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas, GMA 7, GNTV, ABS-CBN, NNC, Philippine Star, Manila Bulletin, and Philippine Daily Inquirer constantly reminded the public on their role in helping the country achieve rice self-sufficiency.

Cabanatuan Herald, Business Mirror, and Trip Magazine also featured the National Year of Rice 2013.
