Department of Agriculture-Philippine Rice Research Institute (DA-PhilRice) branch station in Isabela is ready for the new scheme of seed distribution brought in CAR and Region 2.
Dr. Leo Javier, branch director of Department of Agriculture-Philippine Rice Research Institute (DA-PhilRice) in Isabela said that a mobile app called RCEF SMS (Seed Monitoring System) will be used by the local government units (LGUs) to fast track the reporting of seed distribution updates.
More than 100,000 certified inbred rice seeds will be distributed in seven provinces this dry season.
He also said that municipalities covered by the program will be given a system-generated pre-distribution list as basis in their seed distribution. Encoders and agriculture office staff were trained to use the mobile app.
Tablet and load cards were also provided to the partner-implementers for them to immediately assist early planters this dry season. Existing and possible hotspots of COVID-19 were also identified, and implementers in the areas were given advisories to strictly follow health and safety protocol.
Brochure on modern rice farming and 2021 technology calendar will also be distributed to the farmers aside from the total seed allocation in CAR and Region 2.
