DA will supply hybrid seeds to 15 of the 57 provinces that used to be solely covered by RCEF, including Bukidnon, under the government’s National Rice Program (NRP).

Bukidnon is starting its transition from inbred to hybrid rice production this 2021 wet season because of its high production potential.

The Agusan station honored Bukidnon for its shift to hybrid rice production during a provincial briefing/workshop on Integrated Rice Program in Malaybalay City on March 23. The workshop also explained the delineation between RCEF and NRP.”

On the other hand, the NRP integrates government initiatives and interventions for the rice sector. Bukidnon Governor Jose Maria R. Zubiri,Jr., appreciated the RCEF program for helping their rice farmers.

RCEF Branch Project Development Officer Frenciso L. Varquez presented the accomplishments of the RCEF-Seed Program in the province for three cropping seasons.

“The municipality of Maramag is grateful [for] the interventions provided [to] our rice farmers… Now residents can regularly pay their taxes and fewer farmers come here to ask for assistance,” Municipal Agriculturist Amilyn M. Obial said. “It is a big challenge to inspire my co-farmers to adopt the use of hybrid rice. But, I hope that we will still follow the mandate of our government because this is for our development and success,” RCEF beneficiary Jose Panes of Valencia City said.
