Antique farmers have achieved a 1t/ha-increase in yield by using the certified inbred seeds distributed by the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) Seed Program.

Previously, farmers relied on home-saved seeds yielding 2-3t/ha. With RCEF certified inbred seeds, yields have increased to 4-5t/ha.

Antique’s implementation of RCEF operations and extension services has earned it the excellence award for the best province during the RCEF Seed and Extension Annual Review held in the Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija.

Moreover, the province’s commendable efforts, including the timely delivery of 38,653 bags of seeds to Antique, with 38,534 already distributed and planted by 16,539 farmer-beneficiaries across 18 municipalities, have been praised.

The RCEF-Seed Program is a component of Republic Act 11203, or Rice Tariffication Law, which allots P10 billion every year for rice farmers to help them compete in the international rice market.
