The 2024 Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) Annual Review cum PhilRice RCEF Seed and Extension General Assembly gathered representatives of implementing agencies, Offices of Senator Cynthia Villar and Congressman Wilfrido Mark Enverga, key officials from the Department of Agriculture, and Institute’s RCEF operations personnel at the CBC Plenary Hall on Feb. 4-7.

As the extended RCEF marks its 6th and final year of Phase 1 implementation, the review examined its accomplishment as well as the best practices and lessons that can be adopted under Phase 2. The general assembly addressed challenges, fostered fighter teamwork, and discussed upcoming strategies to improve program delivery.

Meanwhile, DA-Regional Field Offices, PhilRice, and other key agencies gathered at PhilRice CES Social Hall from Jan. 22-24 to strategize seed allocation targets for 2025. The group determined multi-year target area coverages for inbred and hybrid seeds under the RCEF Seed and National Rice Programs and developed a centralized digital planning tool for integrated target-setting and monitoring. The workshop provided a structured approach to improve coordination, enhance planning efficiency, and ensure effective seed distribution.
