The Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF)-Training and Extension Services (TES) Program is scaling up training for farmers across the country, promising broader access to modern, science-backed rice practices and recommendations.
The RCEF-TES will roll out more capacity-building initiatives next year including three Rice Specialists Training Courses, 20 Farmer Field Schools, 30 advanced training batches, and 27 customized sessions.
Since 2019, over 5,000 field workers and technicians have been trained with more than 10 million information materials distributed nationwide.
Results from the program consistently show improved knowledge and application of pest control, nutrient management, and machine use.
“When we equip farmers with science-based knowledge, we help them adopt better practices,” said Lalaine Ganate, a local farmer technician from Bago City, Negros Occidental, who has trained over 500 farmers in her area.
The program’s extension until 2031, under Republic Act 12078, ensures continued farmer access to modern rice technologies, high-quality seeds, machinery, training, and financial support.
