First rice specialists’ batch under RCEF completes training

All heart. Following course completion,this year’s first batch of Rice Specialists’ Training Course under the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Program are now ready for their role as rice focal person in their province. They will promote technologies for farmers to be competitive and will assist in technical briefing and seed distribution. While on training from April to October, they taught about a hundred farmers from Llanera and Rizal, Nueva Ecija who also joined them in the culmination program, Oct. 18. Mayor Hannah Katrina Lapuz-Andres of Rizal lauded PhilRice in assisting the rice farmers while PhilRice Executive Director John de Leon challenged the newly-trained farmers on PalayCheck system to adopt a “business unusual perspective” amidst rice tariffication regime.
