Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice) is a government corporate entity under the Department of Agriculture created through Executive Order 1061 on 5 November 1985 (as amended) to help develop high-yielding and cost-reducing technologies so farmers can produce enough rice for all Filipinos.

The Institute accomplishes this through research and development work in our central and branch stations. In 2006, PhilRice Central Experiment Station received three management system certifications: ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environmental), OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series), which unify the organization, resources, processes, and practices components into one system to help achieve the organization’s purpose and mission.
