PhilRice receives JICA chief representative award
PhilRice receives JICA chief representative award. The Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice) was recently recognized as one of this year’s Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Chief Representative awardees for its outstanding performance and for being a long-standing partner in implementing key projects in the country. For almost 30 years, JICA and PhilRice collaborated on the agricultural development and enhancement of government capacity in delivering extension services and improving farmers’ technologies mostly in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM). At present, both agencies are working on the upland rice-based farming technology transfer for the Bangsamoro, which aims to address the agricultural needs of the Bangsamoro people and improve the delivery of public services.
