Rice for the future. What is rice to offer for the next generations? If not regenerated and conserved, succeeding Filipino lineage may not know traditional varieties and enjoy high-yielding, aromatic, and good-eating quality rice varieties. This is why the Genetic Resources Division of the Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice) stores approximately 12,000 rice germplasm including traditional or indigenous Philippine cultivars and improved varieties. More than 900 of its unique rice germplasm collections were showcased in a Walk-through visit at the PhilRice Central Experiment in Muñoz, Nueva Ecija, March 20.
