Give thanks for all that happened in 2018 and prepare well for a challenging and jam-packed 2019 as PhilRice leads the task of ensuring use of quality inbred seeds nationwide and the stewardship of its biggest fund ever for this purpose. Thus, Deputy Executive Director for Development Dr. Karen Eloisa T. Barroga’s core message to the PhilRice family is: Magtulungan, Magkaisa, at Manalangin.

Read her message:

Our celebrations this December should not focus simply on the end of a year but on giving thanks or expressing gratitude, such as for opportunities that have opened up this year; for good health despite heavy responsibilities; and for new friends, family members, and officemates — while it’s sad that we have lost some of them, we have also welcomed many new faces.

Even for our trials and challenges, we are thankful. Trials strengthen us, make us think of innovative solutions, and, most importantly, help renew our faith in God.

And for the Christians, we celebrate/commemorate in this month and give thanks for the birth of Jesus Christ —  God’s gift to humanity.

The year 2019 will be very exciting and challenging to the PhilRice family. Di po ba ang sinasabi natin tuwing Lunes sa ating flag ceremony ay:  to improve the competitiveness of the Filipino rice farmer and the Philippine rice industry? Now, we have the funds to help make this happen; let’s make history!

Kaya ang mensahe ko at sya na ring panalangin para sa PhilRice:  MAGTULUNGAN tayo —  volunteer, share what you are good at, encourage each other, and be humble to ask for help; MAGKAISA tayo — we may differ in opinions and solutions but let us focus on our mission. At higit sa lahat, MANALANGIN lagi tayo — pray for wisdom, good health, and protection so that we will be successful in helping improve the quality of life of our farmers through the use of quality rice seeds.

May God continue to bless all the works of our hands! Have a meaningful Christmas celebration and let us approach the New Year with resolve to make life better for our farmers.
