This year, 2018, has been filled with overwhelming challenges and gratifying victories for all of us!
Despite internal and external limitations, PhilRice smoothly journeyed through its 33rd year of upholding its pride and prestige as the lead agency in rice research for development. This mirrors the Institute’s men and women who placed premium on quality and dedicated service.
Thank you for the profound efforts and for every extra mile you exerted throughout the year. Beyond and against odds, things have been made easy as each one conscientiously contributed his/her best, and even worked beyond the ordinary tick of the clock to get things better and farther. Such sacrifices have continued to shape and define the primacy of our service. For that I am most grateful.
Truly, there were times when I acted more of a manager than a leader, and frequently engaged in difficult confrontations. This is because I wanted to stir the best in you to produce the desired results for which we are accountable to higher authorities and to the rice farmers. My humble and sincere apologies. Looking back at those tough times, I am confident that they taught us lifetime lessons and experiences that excite us more to continuously excel in our endeavors.
Our celebrated successes were achieved through the unwavering support and collaboration of our stakeholders, foremost the rice farmers, the Department of Agriculture and its attached bureaus and agencies, academic institutions and foreign counterparts, among other partners. They are integral in advancing our various platforms. We owe them a lot.
Our achievements bring us to the limelight of our professional dome, a proof that together, we grow with the Institute. I honestly bow to your perseverance and continued pursuit of excellence. PhilRice is proud of having you..
I am also conveying my heartfelt gratitude to your families and loved ones, who are always behind and around to provide you the needed support and inspiration. They are very instrumental in keeping everyone going…moving…marching forward.
As we embark on another year, there could be more headwinds along the way. But I encourage you to be more positive, more focused, and more dignified. No matter what the circumstances will be, we must not lose faith in our legitimate cause and aspirations. Let us then warmly welcome another successful year ahead.
