 More than 1,000 college and high school students of Visayas State University (VSU) in Baybay City, Leyte pledged to save rice and wrote their ways of fulfilling their pledges in a commitment wall (inset) during the weRICE forum. The activity, held during the university’s 86th anniversary week, aimed to promote the youth’s role in the country’s bid to rice self-sufficiency. Conducted by PhilRice in partnership with VSU’s University Students Services Office, College of Agriculture, and Development Communication Society, the forum drummed up the National Rice Awareness Month celebration in November. |

 Students of Licuma Elementary School in Ormoc and Patag Elementary School in Baybay, Leyte learned how a rice seed grows from being a seedling until it is cooked through a storytelling session of PhilRice and Development Communication students of Visayas State University in Baybay City. Reading the children's book tilted, The Adventures of Gabby Ghas, is part of the monthly activities celebrating the National Rice Awareness Month to be held in November. |

Dr. Fe dela Peña receives a pack of healthy goodies for winning the final week of the Central Experiment Station-wide nutrition trivia contest. Led by PhilRice Sports and Fitness Program, in collaboration with the Rice Chemistry and Food Science Division, the trivia contest was held on Mondays in July to increase awareness of PhilRice staff on proper nutrition. Meanwhile, Alex Espiritu and Filomena Gorospe were the winners during the first and second weeks, respectively. |
